The Kansas City Irish Fest returns to Crown Center, Aug. 29-31. Immerse yourself in the traditions of Ireland with multiple stages of Irish music and dance, menus of traditional Irish and Scottish dining, a vast range of cultural activities and programs that cater to the entire family.
In Independence, Santa-Cali-Gon Days returns to Independence Square for a weekend of historically inspired entertainment. Live music, demonstrations of life in 1849, and attractions ranging from a beer garden to a cornhole competition offer a full weekend of festivities, Aug. 29-Sept. 1.
The holiday weekend also brings the opening days of the Kansas City Renaissance Festival in Bonner Springs. Immerse yourself in medieval lore at the annual celebration, featuring daily jousts, a marketplace, faire food, family-friendly activities and more imaginative entertainment. The festival runs select days Aug. 30 through Oct. 12.

Baseball fans can cheer on the boys in blue as the Kansas City Royals compete in a three-game series vs division rivals, the Detroit Tigers, from Aug. 29-31.
Or head to KC’s Riverfront to experience the Soccer Capital of America at CPKC Stadium. The KC Current take on NC Courage on Aug. 30.
Rock band Linkin Park takes the stage at Kansas City’s T-Mobile Center on Aug. 31. Fans can catch all of the band’s greatest hits during the massive From Zero World Tour.
