From parades and performances to celebrations at the National World War I Museum and Memorial, Kansas City celebrates and honors Veterans Day with a wide variety of regional events.
Veterans Day 2017: Generations of Service
Several events and discounts headline Veterans Day weekend at the National World War I Museum and Memorial:
- Free admission for veterans and active duty military personnel; half-price admission for the general public (Friday-Sunday, Nov. 10-12)
- Free public ceremony featuring several notable guests, including Mayor Sly James (Saturday, Nov. 11, 10 a.m.)
- “Walk of Honor” Brick dedication (Saturday, Nov. 11, 2 p.m.)
- Plenty of other exhibits and experiences

Veterans Day Celebration
Patriotic performances, exhibits and activities highlight this Overland Park festivity, including an air show, helicopters on display, food trucks and more.

Harry S. Truman Library and Museum
Independence is home to the Harry S. Truman Library and Museum, where visitors are welcome to attend a special reading of “Churchill’s Legacy: Two Speeches to Save the World,” from notable author and British politician Lord Watson of Richmond.
