Our September solar printing session got rained out, but we aren’t letting those supplies go to waste! Since our makeup date landed right on Halloween, we are leaning in to spooky season!
Ready to turn nature into art? Join Heartland Conservation Alliance at Heartland Overlook Preserve for our inaugural Anthotype Workshop! An anthotype is an eco-friendly photographic process that uses light-sensitive plant pigments and sunlight to create stunning prints.
Grab a costume, come hang out, and create with us. You can make yours spooky with Halloween themes or stick to classic, nature-based designs. It is completely up to you!
During this hands-on workshop, you will:
- Learn the history and technique behind the anthotype process
- Forage for natural plant materials right on-site
- Compose and set up your own prints to develop in the sun
- Enjoy a guided nature walk around the preserve while your art develops
What to bring:
- Plenty of water appropriate for your needs and weather conditions. There will be no running water on site.
- Bug spray
- Long pants and close toed shoes are highly recommended to protect against bugs.
- A costume of your choice!
