Join us for a talk about the Revolutionary War soldiers who call Jackson County their final resting place. Travis Boley of the Oregon-California Trails Association (OCTA) will share details of their lives, and even share some of what their children and grandchildren did here in Jackson County, especially as it relates to the Santa Fe, Oregon, and California National Historic Trails. Mr. Boley is a direct descendent of Nathaniel Lewis (1759-1826), who served in the North Carolina militia. Lewis is buried in the Lewis-Gregg Cemetery near Blue Mills Road. Other Patriots to be discussed include Ledstone Noland (1750-1839), Reuben Harris (1760-1842), Joseph Boggs (1749-1843), Jeremiah Burnett III (1749-1848), Isaac Drake (1764-1837), William Moore (1757-1843), and Elizabeth Duncan Porter (1750-1845), a captive of the British during the war. Join us to learn these stories and more in this celebration of our nation’s 250th birthday and to honor these men and women of the Revolution.

An America 250 prize will be awarded to one lucky participant.
