Our popular Drop-In History series for America 250 returns with a day of discovery centered on the history of enslavement in Missouri at the Alexander Majors House Museum. We invite visitors of all ages to explore a series of mini-exhibits on this important topic and then stay for a keynote talk at 3 p.m. by Curator Sarah Bader-King about enslavement on the Majors property and the research behind the database developed from publicly available records.
Families can enjoy a kid-friendly exhibit that introduces the basics of enslavement and a themed Storytime with Mr. Dave.

Small-scale slavery.
Black Civil War service.
The Missouri Slave Narratives.
The Black experience on the frontier.
Through exhibits, stories, and discussion, this program offers an opportunity to learn together, reflect on Missouri’s past, and better understand the people and histories that shaped our community.
