Boots in the Bottoms Rides into Kansas City’s Historic West Bottoms June 5–7, 2026
Find free line dancing, western music, cowboy flair, and fun at June’s First Friday Weekend

Pull on the cowboy boots, tip the hat, and saddle up for Boots in the Bottoms, the June First Friday Weekend celebration in Kansas City’s Historic West Bottoms, taking place June 5–7, 2026.
A spirited nod to the district’s roots that got its start as one of the nation’s busiest livestock and stockyard centers, Boots in the Bottoms tips its hat to the cowboys, cattle drivers, and rail workers who helped shape Kansas City. During this western-inspired weekend, visitors can two-step through historic warehouses, lasso one-of-a-kind vintage and antique finds, and kick up their heels amid food, music, and festive décor.
The featured attractions include free line-dancing instruction and participation from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, led by D3Stepper, who will guide beginners and seasoned dancers alike through fun, easy routines for the joy of community dancing.
Throughout the district, western decorations, cowboy hats, boots, and rustic touches will set the scene, while food trucks, bars, and photo ops provide plenty of opportunities to capture the moment, wet whistles, and fuel up for a full day of shopping and entertainment.
At the corner of 13th and Hickory, pianist and entertainer Terence O’Malley will perform live on the district’s outdoor grand piano, filling the air with western favorites and toe-tapping tunes that are sure to put a kick in every visitor’s step. Guests can settle in with a drink, savor award-winning barbecue from Chef J BBQ, and soak up the joyful atmosphere.
“Boots in the Bottoms celebrates the West Bottoms’ cowboy and stockyard heritage while creating a fun and welcoming experience for everyone,” said Amber Arnett Bequeaith, Vice President of Full Moon Productions, which organizes the Historic West Bottoms events. “Whether visitors are line dancing, shopping for vintage treasures, or simply relaxing to live music, there’s something here that will make them want to holler yee-haw.”
The event coincides with the district’s popular First Friday Weekend, which draws thousands of visitors to explore historic multi-story warehouses packed with antiques, architectural salvage, home décor, fashion, collectibles, and unexpected treasures.
Visitors are encouraged to wear western attire, bring their best cowboy swagger, and make a day of shopping, dining, dancing, and discovering why the West Bottoms remains one of Kansas City’s most unique destinations.
