816 Day: It’s a chance to celebrate Kansas City and everything it has to offer.

Join local organizations and their partners on Saturday, Aug. 16, for a full calendar of festivities dedicated to the City of Fountains.

816 Day Events

Head to the City Market for one of the day’s signature events hosted by KC Streetcar and Art in the Loop. A lineup of live performances, ranging from folk to hip-hop, offer the perfect way to wrap up the day. 6 to 8 p.m.

At Kansas City’s Power & Light District, enjoy a free 816 Day Celebration featuring a vendor market, kids activities, live entertainment, food trucks and more. Noon to 9 p.m.

Celebrate 816 Day at J. Rieger & Co. in the East Bottoms. The KC distillery is having an all-day bash including live music in Electric Park, a vendor market with Cerry Pit Collective, story time with local museum The Rabbit Hole and $8.16 drink specials. 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. 

Zona Rosa will host a free 816 Block Party at its Central Park, complete with live music, a live mural artist, appearances and photo opportunities with KC sports teams, food trucks and kids activities. Plus, show a same-day receipt from any Zona Rosa store or restaurant and get a special limited edition 816 tote.3-7 p.m.

The new Creekside district in Parkville is ready for 816 Day. Visitors will find local vendors, live music, special appearances and even the KC Current Teal Mobile. Noon to 9 p.m.

Though not specifically 816 Day-themed, Lee’s Summit will celebrate the grand opening of its new Green Street community space with live entertainment, kids activities and farmers market vendors. 8 a.m. to noon. 

Want more time to celebrate 816 Day? Between Aug. 16 and Sept. 13, compete in a friendly game of Scavenger Hunt Bingo.

Root for the Home Team

And while they’re not technically 816 Day events, what better what to celebrate Kansas City than by cheering on some of its best teams.

The KC Current will face Orlando Pride starting at 3 p.m. at CPKC Stadium. Then the Kansas City Royalswill take on the Chicago White Sox starting at 6:10 p.m. at Kauffman Stadium. Sporting KC will have an away match vs Orlando City SC starting at 6:30 p.m., but you can still watch the game at No Other Pub in Power & Light.
