Shelf Life, the popular show-and-tell storytelling event hosted by writer and director David Wayne Reed, explores how everyday items carry meaning, memory, and history.

The show returns to the Library as part of the Summer Reading Program, focusing on stories and objects centered on the theme of “team.” What does it mean to be on a team? To be a team player? To switch teams? To be picked for the team? To be a good sport?

This special Library installment — where the stories are personal and there is, in fact, an “I in team” — features storytellers Ryan Wray, Abby Wray, Peregrine Honig, Rick Wyatt, Gina McLain, and Reed.

Reed, the host and producer of the storytelling series, grew up in rural Kansas. His films, Eternal Harvest, and land and flower, take inspiration from narratives of landscape, memory, transformation, and time, and have been screened around the world.
