The Plein Air Painting Event comes to Rock Island Bridge on Thursday, May 14th for a full day of art in the open air. Starting at 7:30 AM, artists set up on the East Patio and surrounding areas to capture the bridge and its riverscape live — painting on location the way the masters did it. By afternoon, the original/framed works go on display for final judging, browsing and purchase, wth a $500 cash award presented on-site by RIB founder Mike Zeller.

What to Expect:

  • Live plein air painting on the East Patio from 7:30 AM–8pm — watch artists work in real time
  • Finished artwork on display and for sale on the East Patio starting at 1 PM (to 8pm)
  • A $500 cash award presented on-site by Mike Zeller at 8pm
