The 2026 Off the Wall rooftop film series, Summer on the Sidelines, celebrates the misfits, oddballs, and outcasts who are warming the benches. Diary of a Wimpy Kid (2010, PG, 90 min.) starts the series.
Inspired by Jeff Kinney’s books, this comedy about Greg Heffley (Zachary Gordon)’s first year of middle school explores the awkwardness of adolescence — cliques and bullying, girls who are taller than the boys, and a student who contracts the dreaded Cheese Touch after poking a moldy slice of cheese on the playground.
RogerEbert.com describes it as “a family movie you don’t need a family to enjoy. You must, however, have been a wimpy kid. Most kids are wimpy in their secret hearts.”
