Celebrate Charlie Parker Month at Kansas City’s own VOO Lounge with an unforgettable evening of live jazz honoring the legendary “Bird” on Thursday, August 14th from 7:30 – 10:30 PM.
Rising saxophone talent Henry Scamurra will step into the spotlight alongside a powerhouse trio of Kansas City jazz greats: David Basse (drums & vocals), Joseph Straws Jr. (bass), and Greg Richter (piano). Together, they’ll bring Parker’s genius to life in a dynamic tribute that bridges generations.

VOO Lounge is a chic downtown venue where Kansas City’s rich music legacy meets modern edge. The lounge sits above a historic basement once home to the Coon-Sanders Orchestra’s groundbreaking 1920s late-night radio broadcasts on WDAF—some of the first to carry Kansas City jazz nationwide.

With moody vibes, expertly crafted cocktails, and delicious small plates, VOO is more than a lounge—it’s a vibrant part of KC’s sound and spirit. No cover charge, just pure bebop, cool cocktails, and good company.
