The Kansas City Jazz Orchestra’s 18-piece big band invites kids of all ages to clap, snap, sway, and play their way through the swinging sounds of Kansas City jazz!
Groove ‘n Learn is a high-energy, interactive concert experience designed to introduce school-age children to the joy, history, and creativity of jazz. During this toe-tapping 45-minute musical journey performed live by the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra, young audiences will explore:

  • Musical building blocks – melody, harmony, rhythm and tempo
  • Instrument families – get to know the trumpet, saxophone, trombone, piano, guitar, bass and drums
  • Jazz fundamentals – improvisation, blues, call-and-response
  • Kansas City jazz hallmarks – riffing, swing, and the sounds that put KC on the jazz map
