Liberty, Missouri ... Ideally located at the northeast threshold of Kansas City, Liberty offers all the advantages of a small town while enjoying easy access to the amenities of the big city. Founded in 1822, incorporated in 1829, and named for the principle that Americans hold most dear, Liberty is the second oldest incorporated town west of the Mississippi River. The city boasts six districts on the National Register of Historic Places, a thriving historic downtown area, three museums and the home of William Jewell College. Historic Downtown Liberty is the place to find unique home furnishings, fine jewelry, family fashions and antiques. Start your day with a relaxing visit to one of the downtown spas, then browse through distinctive shops and boutiques before stopping in one of several unique restaurants for lunch or dinner. Close out your day with an entertaining show at the Corbin Theatre. Come by for a taste of the bayou at Cajun Tony's Cafe on the square. Sorella’s is an Italian restaurant and deli, featuring homemade spaghetti and meatballs daily. The Mill Street Deli is the perfect stop for a quick lunch and Cupini's offers fresh pasta, handmade paninis and outstanding desserts.The Corbin Mill began as a grain mill in 1889, but is now home to a half-dozen retail shops and the Corbin Mill Restaurant, which serves light lunches, afternoon tea and desserts in a casual, yet elegant setting.In addition to its unique shops and restaurants, historic downtown Liberty also is home to a number of special events throughout the year. The Farmers' Market is open for business every Saturday morning on the Square, from May through October. Free, guided architecture walks also are offered on the first Saturday morning of each month from March to October. Led by local historians, each tour explores a different historic district. Other events include the Liberty Heritage Festival in May, classic car Cruise Nights during the summer months, Girl's Night Out, A Taste of Liberty, Fall Festival in September,Trick or Treat on the Square and the Christmas Parade.
