Bach Aria Soloists’ vision is to bring the brilliance of Bach, the Baroque, and Contemporary music to new life through their critically-acclaimed Concert Series, innovative collaborations with multi-discipline arts partners from across the country and to perform in intimate and diverse venues throughout the metro, the U.S. and beyond.
Bach Aria Soloists is dedicated to presenting the genius and relevance of Johann Sebastian Bach, his contemporaries, and those he inspired to our community through BAS’ critically acclaimed concerts, multi-genre collaborations and BachReach education. Our adventurous repertoire includes chamber music from the Baroque to Contemporary, arias, art songs, living composer commissions, and acclaimed collaborative projects with theater companies—including original productions of “The Adventures of Don Quixote,” “Our Favorite Things”; partnerships with jazz musicians including Helen Sung who composed “Rubicon Suite” for BAS which they premiered in 2025; unique partnerships with museums and curators—”An Evening of Fierce Women” of art and music; and contemporary dance companies.
Led by Artistic Director-Founder-violinist Elizabeth Suh Lane, the ensemble includes Lindsey Lang, soprano, Elisa Williams Bickers, harpsichord, organ, and piano. “Collaboration is integral to BAS,” says Elizabeth Suh Lane. Bach Aria Soloists has partnered with international, national, and regional artists including Dr. Christoph Wolff, Rodney Marsalis, Helen Sung, Matt Haimovitz, Dr. Markus Rathey; Grammy winners—the Kansas City Chorale, bandoneónist Héctor Del Curto; Heart of America Shakespeare Festival, Kansas City Actors Theater, contemporary dance ensembles including Parsons Dance, Owen Cox Dance, and Wylliams/Henry Contemporary Dance, and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.
In 2024, Bach Aria Soloists was invited to perform at the 20th Anniversary Cayman Arts Festival with Rodney Marsalis. In 2022, BAS was selected as Ensemble-in-Residence at the Thailand International Composition Festival and was awarded the USArtists International grant from the Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts, and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Bach Aria Soloists is on the roster of the Marslis Mansion Artists, exclusively for touring.

Thanks to our BachReach funders, we also offer BachReach, our FREE innovative education program that delivers exciting, interactive music for schools and seniors in our community.
