Does the app cost anything to download?

The KC BBQ Experience app is free to download for both iOS and Android.

Do I have to create an account to use the app?

To enjoy the full experience, we strongly encourage those who download the app to create a free account. This allows users to earn badges, embark on trails, post photos of their ‘cue and more. However, if you wish to only use the app to access the list of restaurants, you do not have to create an account.

What counts as a barbecue restaurant and what doesn’t?

Barbecue restaurants featured in the KC BBQ Experience app must have a significant portion of its menu dedicated to barbecue.

Can I check in without visiting a restaurant or ordering any food?

Yes, however, we encourage users to visit area restaurants and sample all of the different types of ‘cue found throughout the metro.

What’s the point of earning badges?

Bragging rights and tracking your progress.

What’s the difference between badges and trails?

Badges are tied to specific achievements while trails are designed to encourage users to travel throughout the metro.

How many restaurants do I need to visit to complete a trail?
