Crown Center Ice Terrace

Kansas City’s holiday lights radiate the joy of the season to anyone within view, creating a beautiful backdrop for a holiday getaway. The city’s festive displays range from world famous annual classics like the 86th Annual Plaza Lights to newer traditions like the Northern Lights at Zona Rosa. Use this page to find all of the holiday happenings around the city.

Country Club Plaza

Beginning Thanksgiving night, miles and miles of holiday lights adorn the Plaza for seven weeks each winter. Outlining every shop, dome and tower of the entertainment district, the KCP&L Plaza Lights are one of KC’s most treasured traditions.

Downtown/Power & Light District

Straight out of the mind of Dr. Seuss, The City Market transforms itself for Whoville Holidays, a yuletide celebration featuring The Grinch, art activities and a Cindy Lou Who look-alike contest.

Crown Center District

Marvel at the 100-foot Mayor’s Christmas Tree, one of the nation’s tallest. Or visit the Holiday Train Village at Union Station, an elaborate display of miniature trains that zig and zag through a wintry scene good enough to eat.

Zona Rosa

Zona Rosa is known for reviving several of KC’s popular holiday traditions. Shop in style beneath the Northern Lights—gigantic, beautifully-lit crowns that sparkle in the moonlight—or explore a chilly igloo and share your family’s holiday wishes with the Fairy Princess.

On the Kansas Side

Watch thousands of twinkling lights dance in tune with concert-quality holiday music during the Legendary Light Show. Also cool: lacing up your skates for a spin on The Ice at Park Place, one of only two outdoor skating rinks in the area.
