Help us grow a greener, healthier Kansas City! On Saturday, April 18th, Heartland Conservation Alliance invites you to join the Renewing the Blue effort by planting 100 new native trees at Blue Valley Park (Oxbow) through Project CommuniTree, in partnership with Forest ReLeaf of Missouri, Kansas City Parks & Recreation, Bluestem Habitat Restoration, and the City of Kansas City’s Neighborhood Services Department – Office of Environmental Quality (Natural Systems Coordinator).
These trees will do more than add beauty — they’ll help feed pollinators, improve water quality, provide stormwater retention, boost biodiversity, and create vital habitats for our wildlife friends. This work reflects the One Health approach, which recognizes that the health of people, animals, plants, and the environment are deeply connected. By strengthening our urban tree canopy, we’re supporting cleaner air, healthier ecosystems, and more resilient communities — creating benefits that extend to all living things.
Forest ReLeaf’s mission is to enrich communities by growing and planting trees through the power of people and partnerships — and this planting will establish a vibrant Food Forest for all to enjoy. Together, we can improve wildlife habitat, enhance community well-being, and create lasting benefits for people, nature, and the planet.
