Als jazzdrummer en -vocalist sinds de jaren 1970 staat David Basse al tientallen jaren in de voorste gelederen van de muziekscene in Kansas City. Hij neemt de fakkel over van legendes als KC Jazz-pioniers Charlie Parker, Count Basie en Jay McShann.
His band, The City Light Orchestra, have been featured on “Wolf Trap and All That Jazz” and played at the 1997 Inaugural Gala for President Clinton.
