The Library’s annual summer film series returns with a fresh lineup of FREE outdoor movies.

Following the death of its king, the advanced African civilization of Wakanda has a new leader. However, before the new king – and Marvel superhero Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) – can rule in peace, he must conquer challenges from within and without his nation’s boundaries.

The Academy Award-winning film Black Panther (PG-13, 134 min.) is the final installment of the 2025 Color Our World Off the Wall film series. Grab a chair and settle in on the rooftop to see a tribe full of powerful women, some CIA action, and an epic power struggle between N’Jadaka (Michael B. Jordan) and the king.

How best to enjoy an evening of downtown KC skyline cinema on the Central Library's Rooftop Terrace:

  • Bring your own blankets or folding chairs for seating. Seating not provided.
  • The Young Friends of the Library will provide free popcorn and beer (while supplies last). Feel free to bring your own food, snacks, and non-alcoholic drinks. No glass containers, please.
  • Doors open at 8 p.m. The Central Library closes at 5 p.m. on Fridays, but the doors reopen at 8 p.m. for Off the Wall audiences.
  • In case of bad weather, the event may be moved indoors or canceled. Watch event pages or the Library’s social media feeds for updates.
