Blooms in the Bottoms Where Entertainment and Shopping Flourish this First Friday Weekend May 3-5
Kansas City’s West Bottoms District holds this annual event recognizing moms

Good times are abloom with the spring flowers coloring the historic West Bottoms District for Blooms in the Bottoms this First Friday Weekend, from May 3 through May 5. This event has become a beloved tradition, especially for families looking to treat moms to a special day filled with photo ops, flowers, and immersive experiences in vintage shopping.

"Flowers set a festive mood – bringing smiles and delight. Blooms in the Bottoms is a colorful time to soak in all the beauty of Spring,” said Amber Arnett-Bequeaith, spokesperson for the West Bottoms district and Full Moon Productions. Full Moon’s First Friday Weekend’s street entertainment is called the Festival of the Full Moon, and the events center around the moon of the month. In May, it’s the Flower Moon that lends itself to this spring-related West Bottoms activity.

The West Bottoms District will have live music and a plant sale outside, food trucks, photo ops, and a chance to meet pups that need forever homes.

West Bottoms’ Shopping: Embracing the Festival of the Full Moon Weekends' theme, Blooms in the Bottoms runs from May 3-5. Shops will be open Friday through Sunday, with most opening at 9 AM and closing around 6 PM on Friday and Saturday, and Sunday from 12-4 PM. Live Music: Enjoy the tunes of Anthony Perkins performing on an All-Keyed Up Piano outside at 13th and Hickory from 12-3 PM on Friday and Saturday.
Family Fun: Engage in face painting, take advantage of various photo ops, and explore the Kansas City Plant Collectors Plant Sale on Saturday, May 4, starting at 9 AM throughout the West Bottoms.

Lucky Dog 13 Rescue: On Friday and Saturday from 11 AM to 2 PM, visit Lucky Dog 13 Rescue to view and potentially adopt dogs needing their forever homes.

Food & Drink: Satisfy your cravings with offerings from food trucks and various on-site vendors, including the Full Moon Street Bar, Chef J BBQ, Java Garage, Bella Patina’s 3rd Floor Painted Rooster Café, and West Bottoms Whiskey.

Full Moon Escape: the Escape Games have slots available and new games. Open Friday, 12:00 PM - 10:30 PM; Saturday, 10:30 AM - 10:30 PM; Sunday, 10:30 AM - 9:30 PM.
