#InstaKC Captures: Mayor's Christmas Tree

December 5, 2016

#InstaKC Captures is a blog series that highlights some of the most photogenic sights in Kansas City. From iconic monuments to lesser known gems, we tour the city in search of some of the best places to take a snapshot.

This week, we spent time at Crown Center's Mayor's Christmas Tree, a holiday tradition towering at more than 100 feet tall, making it one of the most impressive seasonal sights in Kansas City.

A Famous Fir

Taller than both the U.S. National Christmas Tree and Rockefeller Center's Christmas Tree in New York City, the Mayor's Christmas Tree attracts the gaze of people from all across the region.

Timing is key to get a great shot at this famous fir. Fountains on timers erupt with big splashes of water, making for truly majestic photos that everyone will love.

Post-Sunset Shots

Nighttime at Crown Center makes for especially magical captures (and happens to be one of the most popular photo subjects of the season).

The tree itself is illuminated by more than 7,200 white bulbs, while the surroundings put people in the holiday frame of mind with North Pole-inspired decorations.

There's more to the Mayor's Christmas Tree than, well...a Christmas tree. Wander around Crown Center and you'll find plenty of incredible opportunities for Instagram pictures.
