The 18th Annual Green Commute Challenge returns this October. This month-long competition amongst individuals and employers has been going strong since 2008. The purpose is to introduce different ways of getting around town that help reduce traffic congestion and improve our regional air quality.

There is no cost to participate. Individuals, schools and employers are encouraged to join. Points are earned for taking green modes to/from work or school: biking, scooting, walking/rolling, car/vanpooling, riding the bus or taking the streetcar.

Participants record trips using the free WAY TO GO app and compete for a chance to win weekly prizes donated by local businesses. At the end of the challenge, grand prizes will be awarded in three categories: individual, team and local government.
