In operation since 1857, the City Market is the largest farmers’ market in the region with an annual attendance of nearly 600,000 per year and bursting with more than 140 farmer stalls. In addition, City Market merchants offer a wide variety of fresh produce, meats, baked goods, flowers, specialty foods and other items from America, Africa, Europe, the Middle and far East.
The City Market is home to a unique collection of gift shops, authentic restaurants and the Arabia Steamboat Museum, which houses the largest collection of pre-Civil War artifacts in the world.
The City Market has an extensive event calendar from April through October including concerts, food celebrations and kids activities. I visited KC for the first time this past week and what a find the City Market is. I enjoyed going there several times during my visit from the wonderful international foods to the fresh fruits and vegetables at incredible prices...I will make this a "must do" stop every time I visit.

My family and I were in Kansas City for a band compition recently and ran across the City Market and the Riverboat Arabia Museum, The boys loved it and my husband and I loved the Italian deli. We are planning another trip to the market this month, just to visit the deli.

My favorite place is the City Market, it changes with the season. When I have friends in from other parts of the country, they always want to go to the market. This is a picture that my 16 yr old, took of my grandaughter and a friend's son that was in KC visiting and they were amazed how big the building were, the clouds were really low, so it looked like they reached to the heavens.

We recently visited your lovely city to herald in the season of Fall. We found it at the city farmers market and at the Muriel Kaufman Memorial Garden. Kansas City always has a gift to give it's visitors...it never disappoints me.
