Rendering of FIFA World Cup at Arrowhead

Some of the most visible athletic events in the country (and the world) will soon bring their spotlight to Kansas City. The NFL Draft arrives in the City of Fountains for the first time in April 2023, taking advantage of historic venues and iconic destinations throughout the Downtown area. 

In addition, the 18,500-seat T-Mobile Center is slated to welcome a series of NCAA Division I Championship Events over the next several years, including Men's Basketball Regionals in 2023, the Wrestling Championships in 2024 and the Women's Volleyball Championship in 2025. 

In 2026, Kansas City will welcome the planet's largest sporting event as one of 11 host cities for the FIFA World Cup. The event will see matches being played at Arrowhead Stadium, with state-of-the-art sports infrastructure across the area and a well-recognized local soccer community promising to make KC an unparalleled and unforgettable host. 

College Basketball Capital of America

Kansas City—known as the College Basketball Capital of America—hosts more college basketball tournament games than anywhere else in the country each March. Tournaments each March include postseason play for the Big 12 Conference, the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Historic Municipal Auditorium, a venue inside the Kansas City Convention Center, holds the distinction of having hosted more Final Fours than any other American venue.

Visit KC works closely with the Kansas City Sports Commission & Foundation to attract and host sports events in Kansas City. As a privately-funded nonprofit, the Kansas City Sports Commission & Foundation makes more than 25 annual events available to the community. ​ 

The Women’s Intersport Network for Kansas City (WIN for KC) empowers women and girls by promoting and advocating for the lifetime value of sports and fitness while providing opportunities for participation and leadership development. This work takes place through networking opportunities, leadership seminars and promotions of women’s events. 

The Kansas City Esports Coalition provides opportunities for gamers, entrepreneurs, businesses and educations to connect and cultivate relationships in the KC Esports community.
