Patriotic speeches, children’s games, period cooking and dancing are just a few of the many interpretive activities you’ll find as you explore the mid-19th century village. All are invited to join in the traditional Missouri Town Independence Day Parade at 12:00 noon.

Walk through our heirloom garden on one of our garden tours to see how fruits and vegetables have changed over time. Candlelight Tour of Fort Osage

Event

Experience how the holidays were celebrated at the historic Fort in the early 19th century. Authentically attired interpreters lead guests through this unique evening event inspired by the winters at Fort Osage. Guests will travel back in time to listen to the issues of the day presented by those who once called Fort Osage home. The Education Center will offer a warm place to take part in holiday-themed activities and seasonal beverages! Advance reservations are recommended as tickets are limited. The first tour will begin at 5:00 pm, with tours continuing every 20 minutes until 9:00 pm.

Men's Academy

Event

Young men of the early 1800s had many options to learn a trade or a profession at an early age to make a living in early 19th century America. This workshop provides an opportunity to experience and learn those skills. Attendees will learn such things as surveying, using a compass, plus hands on use of historic tools and quill writing. Great for young people ages 10-14 – parent or guardian must attend with child. Pre-registration is required and class size is limited. Tickets will be available at the museum store and online starting on February 1st.
