PROMOTING KANSAS CITY THROUGH SPORTS By promoting Kansas City sports locally and nationally, and by working behind the scenes to attract, retain and facilitate sports events and organizations here, the Kansas City Sports Commission is helping our bi-state region realize the economic, social and community-building benefits of sports. As a privately funded nonprofit, we are entirely dependent on your support. Since its beginning in 1966, the Sports Commission has worked to promote sports and recreation at every level. Since 1990, the organization has helped generate in excess of $500 million in estimated economic impact on the surrounding metropolitan area. The Commission sponsors more than 25 annual events including youth clinics, annual community and membership luncheons and community-sponsored athletic events. Mission: The Greater Kansas City Sports Commission and Foundation aims to enhance the quality of life and economic success of Greater Kansas City by taking the lead in maintaining and selectively acquiring a diversity of amateur and professional sporting events; to collaborate with area economic development agencies to attract and retain amateur and professional sports organizations; and to promote the lifetime benefits of sports for the youth of Greater Kansas City. Vision: The Greater Kansas City Sports Commission & Foundation envisions itself as an organization that will enhance economic activity and the national and international image of Greater Kansas City through premier amateur and professional sports and will work to build greater understanding of the health and emotional benefits of sports for young people.
