The Paola Community Center is excited to welcome back the Christena Graves Band to the historic Schwartz Family Theater. Christena writes songs in order to make sense of her world. Her lyrics are a mixture of a heartfelt acknowledgment of the pain and suffering in life, balanced by the steadying force of committed relationships. Graves draws from her deep connection with the natural world to help frame the difficulty of the human emotional landscape. She found her musical beginning growing up in Michigan as she learned to sing harmonies with her older brothers and sisters. She later joined the music industry where she recorded and toured with the band Waterdeep in 90s and early 2000s. She stepped away from touring and recording to raise her family, but continued songwriting and participating in music programs with her church. In 2019 the Christena Graves Band began, and in 2021 Christena’s solo album, “Finding My Footing,” marked her triumphant return to the music industry after years away.
