Boone Theater at 1701–1703 E. 18th Street—long vacant but central to the 18th & Vine Historic Jazz District—will reopen Friday, May 1 following a multi-year rehabilitation.
The current rehabilitation, led by Vine Street Collaborative, represents an $8.7 million investment following a 2024 groundbreaking and years of planning. The project reactivates the building as a multi-use venue for film, performance, and community programming, with office and support spaces incorporated throughout.
The Grand Opening ceremony takes place Friday, May 1, with a public program beginning at 2:00 pm inside the theater, followed by a ceremonial ribbon cutting. From 3:00 to 5:00 pm, a community open house will allow visitors to explore the restored interior, with exhibits on the theater’s history and its namesake, student artwork from Lincoln College Preparatory Academy, and information on future tenants.
