Kansas City's history is reflected in a century of fountain development. First, fountains were established to fill the needs of people and animals and later as beautification, memorials and celebrations.
Originally established by Kansas Citians Harold and Peggy Rice in 1973, The City of Fountains Foundation, working with the Parks and Recreation Department of Kansas City, dedicated its efforts to enhancing Kansas City and its surrounding areas by encouraging the establishment of fountains and their accompanying funds.
You can visit more than 200 fountains in the Kansas City metro area. Call or go to www.kcfountains.org
