Welcome to Fall in the Midwest. Soon enough, leaves will change color, chilly temps will be here to stay and your growing holiday shopping list will be impossible to ignore. Luckily, Fall and Winter’s most popular trends are easily found in Kansas City’s many shopping and entertainment districts.
Our Kansas City lifestyle bloggers at Prettyography caught up with Melanie Knopke, Style Scout, at The Grille at Park Place to sneak a glimpse the hottest beauty essentials, clothing, accessories, gifts for the family, toys and more that will be hitting shelves at Park Place in Leawood this season.
Beauty, Grooming and Skincare
The dramatic change in weather that comes with our great city requires a bit of flexibility in your beauty regimes. This Winter, shift your products to serums, oils and butters that focus on skin restoration and adding much-needed moisture after time in the cold. Hand & Land, Bare Med Spa and The Gents Place have you covered. You can also find beauty and skincare necessities all over the city with Visit KC Spas & Salons.
“Dressing for Fall/Winter is all about the ‘third piece,’” says Melanie. Warming up a look with luxurious wraps, ponchos and outerwear will top the list of trends. We peeked at gorgeous patterns, intricate laser-cut detail and faux fur/faux leather accents that are already hitting stores like Alysa Rene Boutique, EJ’s Boutique, Etiquette Boutique and Geno’s Clothiers. While sleek, simple jewelry is expected to return, Melanie also showcased some sparkly statement pieces that easily converted to more basic chokers. Beautiful, flexible additions to the wardrobe will continue to be in high demand, and we have an amazing list of apparel shops ready to help you discover them all!
Gifts and Stocking Stuffers
The days of candies and throw-away stocking stuffers have gone. This season, shoppers will seek stylish, useful and unique gifts both large and small. The collection Melanie shared could have gone on for days — but sleek high-end sunglasses, mini latte dog toys, booze-patterned socks and fun, engaging kids’ toys seemed to top the list. Delightful shops like Dazzle Pawz, Flowers by Emily, Picasso Exotic Aquatics and The Learning Tree showed us what shoppers will be seeking — truly special, memorable gifts for each and every person on their lists. Topping our list of favorites for gifting are the always-popular Kansas City inspired items. Check out the Kansas City Gift Guide to show off local pride with more great ideas.
As time on the patio dwindles, good indoor spaces for entertaining will be in high demand. Part of our seasonal preview included a full spread of delicious appetizers from the kitchen of The Grille at Park Place. While we had the pleasure of enjoying a perfectly beautiful Fall evening on the rooftop overlooking the district, we also got a behind-the-scenes look at how the space will change for Winter. Closing the retractable roof and walls, the rooftop’s windows will overlook the Park Place ice skating terrace until Spring — making it a unique seasonal experience at the heart of Leawood.
