Visitors' Choice Awards

Kansas City's Best

Thank you to all who voiced your opinions in the third annual KC Visitors' Choice Awards -- we received a record number of votes. Check below to see if your favorites made the cut.

Visitors Choice Awards

The Visitors’ Choice Awards are the only awards chosen exclusively by visitors to Kansas City. The KCCVA developed the awards program in 2007 to give visitors the chance to recognize their favorite businesses and attractions in 20 different categories, from Favorite Barbecue Restaurant to Best Midwestern Hospitality.

The finalists for each category were chosen by an online survey of visitors in April. From May 15 to Aug. 31, more than 3,800 visitors voted for their favorites at VisitKC.com. To ensure that the winners were true visitor choices, only votes from outside the five-county metropolitan area were counted.

Two lucky voters also walked away winners. Rikki S. of Tulsa, Okla., won a Family Fun Getaway courtesy of Pierpont’s, The Chambers of Edgar Allan Poe and the Kansas City Renaissance Festival. Jon D. of Emporia, Kan., won a Legendary Couples Escape to The Legends at Village West, courtesy of Chateau Avalon and Los Cabos Restaurant & Rooftop Fiesta.

Favorite Barbecue Restaurant:
Fiorella’s Jack Stack Barbecue

Barbecue is a way of life in KC, and Fiorella's Jack Stack Barbecue is the top choice for Kansas City visitors for the third year in a row. Our recommendation? Start with the burnt ends and then work your way down the menu.

Steaks, barbecue and jazz. It's the Kansas City version of the triple crown. Few nightclubs hold the allure of The Blue Room, set in the classic 18th & Vine Historic Jazz District. It was named one of the top 100 jazz venues in the world by Downbeat magazine.
