Gates Bar BQ
03/10/2009
Kat N. - Kansas City, MO
- "Kansas City is the town for Barbecue and nobody serves it up better than Gates. The beef compares with any steak served in the Midwest and the ribs are world-famous. There is turkey and chicken available as well, and the best fries ever. Although Gates is "self service," staff circulate throughout the dining rooms constantly to ensure their guests' needs are met.
No trip to the Kansas City area is complete without a meal at Gates, and with 6 locations around the city, it will be easy for any visitor to satiate themselves."
Restaurant Review
04/04/2009
Susan T. - Overland Park, KS
- "My date and I ate at the Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant last night (Friday). We parked only a block away in the public parking garage for only $2. We arrived about 8:30p and had a 40 minute wait. The weather was nice, so we didnt mind waiting outside till our buzzer went off, indicating a table was ready. The atmosphere inside was pleasant, noisy yet warm. We had a comfy booth. I orderde a melon martini and my date had one of the beers which he claimed was very good. I'm a conosieur of crab cakes and their's was excellent. The lobster bisque was nothing like what I thought it would be. It was more like a bland tomato soup, which confused me. I sampled my date's pulled pork sandwich, it was great. Our waiter was fairly attentive and amiable. This is a restaurant I would definitely return to and recommend it to anyone."
Loved KC!
06/19/2009
K W. - Germantown, MD
- "Was here on business and was pleasantly surprised! Loved the store "Stuff"! Felt great to support local artists. Found other great stores...but most all of them had the same problem...closing EARLY! It's hard to spend a decent time in shops when you get out of a meeting at 5 and they close so early (6 pm????). "
Crown Westin
08/12/2009
Dana S. - Topeka, KS
- "Our annual family reunion was held in Kansas City in July of 2009. We stayed at the Crown Westin and the service there was impeccable. Every amenity you could image was available and the staff were more than helpful. I have already planned another stay for October. A short get-a-way for me and my husband."
We love The Nutcracker at our house.
10/09/2009
Julie L. - kansas city, MO
- "We love the Nutcracker at our house. We have seen the major Kansas City Ballet perform and it was wonderful. Last year it was surprisingly fun and enjoyable to see one of the amateur versions that are around the city. We greatly enjoyed the one put on by the Ballet Conservatory of Independence. Their costumes are beautiful especially the flowers, they had a great sense of fun, and danced really well."
Truman Library

Helen N. - Lake in the Hills, IL
- "We enjoyed our visit there and would enjoy a return visit."
The Manny's Experience
08/20/2010
John C. - Kansas City, MO
- "Pleasant surroundings, but the food was average. In addition, Manny's recommends three different tip amounts based on your total bill which are displayed on the bill at amounts of 15%, 18%, and 20%. While some patrons may find this helpful, others may resent it because it implies a) that they can't do the math, or b) that they did not intend to leave a tip. Either way, it sends the wrong message after an otherwise decent dining experience."
I love Kansas City, MO
09/09/2010
Trudy J. - Laguna Niguel, CA
- "I never in my lifetime ever thought I would go to Kansas City. My husband started working there, so on my visits to him I decided that I would love to move to Kansas. I have never been to a place where the people are so nice, and there are so many things to do there. We rented Segways to tour the historical part of the city, all I can say is wow! Halloween is a absolute blast every one decorates and so many things for the little ones to do. At Christmas time it is like going to downtown Disneyland with every building having colored lights on them and the Christmas tree in the center in Bigger than the one in New York, every office window is decorated for the holidays, can't wait to go back for the holidays. Lets talk about the restaurants, if you love BBQ this is the place to go, my favorite is Jack Stacks BBQ beef ribs. Hallmark Center, Union Station, the Power and Light District ,went there for New Year's Eve, My Birthday, had a great time with all of the live music, what a party, I recommend to everyone who wants to go to New York for New Year's Eve to try Kansas City first. I tell everyone I know to plan a trip to Kansas. I kept telling my single daughter to go to Kansas to meet a nice midwestern guy and sure enough she did, and they are getting married in November, he went to Kansas U. I could go on and on how much I love your city. My Husband no longer works in Kansas, but I still can't wait to go back."
Wonderful experience
09/09/2010
Helen H. - Irving, TX
- "Only had 3 days to spend in KC. What a wonderful experience it was. We came to see the Royals ball park. From the moment we arrive everyone was so friendly and helpful. Were very impressed with The Arabia and work being done there. Enjoyed the WWI Museum for two days. Visited Union Station-nice railroad museum. There is so much we missed. All the jazz and Negro Baseball stops. Are anxious to return! (Were disappointed in the quality of service at the Holiday Inn CoCo Key. Was great location for getting to Kauffman Stadium.)"
Tea with the Queen is especially nice
09/09/2010
Lisa Y. - Leawood, KS
- "KC Renaissance Festival, Fall weekends, fun and merriment, oh, and shopping and dining! We are season ticket holders and have gone for 20 some years. We still enjoy this family outing most weekends, it's like extended family. Tea with the Queen is especially nice."
