Westport glows by candlelight
11/14/2008
melissa c. - overland park, KS
For two years my children and their friends have portrayed the Harris grandchilren at the candlelight tour in Westport. With the beautiful 150 year old house so dark and their costumes on, they really get into the spirit of their roles. Visitors are always charmed by the sweet dialog between them and Grandma Hennie. Other reenactors in elaborately authentic costumes sing carols or argue 19th c. politic. My children love to visit with Margaret Mead, a descendent of both Harris and Kearney families, who is always on hand at Westport Historical Society events, serving refreshments and telling stories about her ancestors.

Kansas city is a place to laugh, play and enjoy creating great memories! It is our home. It is where we will raise our family. It is where are roots begin. We pride ourselves in our city! We love to show off the christmas lights, and walk the streets of the plaza on a brisk winter evening! There is always people sharing smiles and lifting spirits! We would not live anywhere else. Kansas city is in our hearts!
