Looking to experience luxury shopping in Kansas City? Check out these recommendations of signature KC stores.
Halls
More than a store, Halls is a Kansas City tradition. Long known for fine quality, exceptional service and an atmosphere of elegance, Halls has provided generations of Kansas City residents and visitors with an unforgettable shopping experience. Created by Hallmark founder Joyce C. Hall, the store’s two locations both house an extensive and eclectic selection of men's and women's career and casual clothing, shoes and accessories. Time-saving personal shoppers add to the luxury environment. Popular cosmetic lines, a distinctive selection of formal and gift items and, of course, a Hallmark shop complete the specialty store.

Nell Hill’s
In 1990, Mary Carol Garrity established Nell Hill’s inside an old bank building in her hometown of Atchison, Kansas, naming the store after her grandmother who was an early Kansas pioneer. The landmark retail store quickly became legendary in the decorating world. In fact, more than 95 percent of Nell Hill’s loyal patrons travel more than 100 miles to visit Mary Carol at her flagship store. Since its humble beginnings as a gourmet food shop, Nell Hill’s has grown to include a sister store, Garrity’s Encore, in Atchison as well as the latest addition—the new Nell Hill’s at Briarcliff Village. Forbes magazine dubbed Mary Carol “one of the hottest little retailers” in America. And her savvy designs have been featured on the CBS Early Show, The Today Show, and in The Wall Street Journal.

Tivol
It’s 1910. From a bench in downtown Kansas City, recent immigrant Charles Tivol meticulously crafts one of his signature timepieces, paying close attention to every slight detail. Fast forward a century later, and local jeweler Tivol is still operating under those high standards. What began as a small, one-man shop has grown into one of KC’s oldest family-operated businesses, not to mention one of the nation’s most respected jewelers. Approaching its 100th anniversary in 2010, Tivol touts a reputation of luxury shopping, fine workmanship and extra-personal customer service. And others have noticed, too. The founder, Charles Tivol, is a member of the National Jeweler Hall of Fame.
