The Airline History Museum is located at the historic Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport, just north across the Broadway Bridge from downtown Kansas City, Missouri. To walk through it is to truly step back in time to the "Golden Age of Aviation."
The museum collection of photographs, artifacts, printed materials and displays are the essence of an age gone by and include uniforms, galley items, instrumentation, logbooks, personal mementos and so much more. The timeline, beginning with the Wright's first flight through the propeller-driven era of general and commercial aviation, comes to life with special emphasis on Kansas City's home airline, TWA.
In the hangar, our aircraft collection includes Star of America, (the only flying Lockheed L1049 "Super G" Constellation in North America), a Martin 404, and a rare 8/24 configuration Douglas DC-3 undergoing restoration. On loan is an American Eaglet and the original Moonliner II formerly on the TWA headquarters in downtown KC.
Our hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
General Admission* to the museum: Children under 6 are free; $4 for ages 6-12; $8 for ages 13-64; $7 for ages 65 and over; and $7 for US military personnel. Additional tax-deductible donations are appreciated. *Call the museum Executive Director for Tour Group rates (816-421-3401, ext 203)
The Airline History Museum is a vital and growing operation. The only way to truly know what's there, is to come for a visit. We hope to see you soon!

If you're looking for a quaint museum this is it. It's got a couple of rooms of airline history. Most of it is TWA stuff. They have 3 aircraft, 2 of which you can walk trough. If you're into airplanes they have one of only 3 Connie's (sp?) left.
The tour guide was nice, but really wasn't ready to talk to a 5 and 3 year old :)
Unless you're a real airplane buff and want to look through the rooms of airplane history artifacts, this will not take you long to see. The price is reasonable, the people are friendly, but it's not yet a great visit, just a fair one.
