Union Station: Bodies Revealed
Take an eye-opening journey inside the human body, thru Sept. 1
In the tradition of Titanic and the Dead Sea Scrolls, Union Station is now playing host to yet another blockbuster exhibit, the Midwestern debut of Bodies Revealed. On display through Sept. 1, this captivating exhibition reveals the complexities that lie just beneath the skin.
Our bodies are our most important possession. They are intricately developed machines; more complex and wondrous than all the computers and gadgetry we surround ourselves with today. Yet many of us do not know what makes us tick—how we function, what we need to survive, what destroys us, what revives us.
Bodies Revealed is a captivating attempt to remedy that lack of knowledge with a three-dimensional tour of the human body. The specimens on display have been carefully preserved through an innovative process called polymer preservation, allowing for amazingly up-close examination.
As you move from gallery to gallery, you will encounter 14 full-body human specimens and more than 200 organs that tell the story of the miraculous systems at work within each of us. You’ll view first-hand the devastating effects of smoking, emphysema, bone fractures and lung cancer.
Bodies Revealed is presented in Union Station’s new Bank of America Grand Gallery. The 15,000 square-foot addition allows Union Station to host additional world-class exhibits in the future, bringing to Kansas City the level of exhibits previously available only in major cities like London, New York and Los Angeles.
