Showcase 2008
Showcase 2008 offers networking and educational events where you have the opportunity to visit some of Kansas City’s premier attractions and venues. Attend a seminar, learn about our host and then network with other professionals in the tourism and hospitality industry.
Best of all, the cost is only $10 per person for CVA members and guests ($5 for just the networking event), and your entire staff is invited to attend. Below is a list of the remaining Showcases for this year.

Kansas City’s Nationally Acclaimed Haunted Houses
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 2
Hosted by: The Beast
Special benefit: Showcase guests will receive a $5 discount on haunted house tickets (offer good Oct. 2 only)
Imagine walking through the dark, cobblestone streets of Jack the Ripper’s London, never knowing if those are his footsteps catching up with you. Sending chills through even the bravest of souls, The Beast is known throughout the haunted house industry for its elaborate scenes and attention to detail. Founded in 1991, The Beast pioneered the “open format.” Guests don’t stand in line; they simply wander through a werewolf forest that is a full-quarter acre in size or race against a storm with thunder and lightning so real it makes hair stand on end. It takes about 40 minutes to navigate through The Beast if you don’t get stuck in a maze or pulled through the light in the three-story tower. The exit is a four-story slide—straight down! Oh, and don’t forget the swamp with its blood-thirsty alligators! So join us for a fright-filled night … if you dare.
SHOWCASE, 5-7 p.m.
The Beast Haunted House, 1401 W. 13th St.
($5 for members & guests)
PRE-SHOWCASE SEMINAR, 3:30-5 p.m.
Group Tour for Tomorrow
($10 members & guests, includes Showcase)
Last November, Kansas City hosted hundreds of group tour operators as part of the National Tour Association Convention. The feedback from the convention has been extremely positive, and there is no better time to determine if your business is “group friendly”. It’s time to get on board. Join a panel of group tour professionals (an operator, a transportation provider, a tour guide and hotel) as they discuss the changing needs and demands of the group tour market. The motor coaches are rolling, but the faces of their passengers and their interests have changed dramatically. Find out what you can do to create a product that will attract the operators. Explore ways to partner with other venues and service providers to create unique experiences and cross-promote your business regionally.
