From faculty performances to student recitals, many Conservatory performances are free or very reasonably priced. The Signature Series presents 6-7 performers each season focusing on emerging artist and seasoned veterans. Exciting performances have included Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Yuja Wang, Joshua Bell, Deeply Rooted Dance Theater, Arianna String Quartet, and many others. The Conservatory has national and international recognition through its music and dance performance, composition, teaching and scholarship. The Conservatory boast over 80 faculty recognized as world-class scholars, artist, teachers and leaders.



The Conservatory's Community Music and Dance Academy caters to the Kansas City Community. In addition to private and group instructions to 600 area musicians and dancers, the Academy offers music camps and festivals, and provides continuing education training through workshops and in-services to area educators and therapists. The UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance is a leader in the cultural growth of Kansas CIty and the region. It has been the source of over 10,000 concerts, recitals and master classes in Kansas City and is the birthplace of several of Kansas City's performing arts organizations. Faculty and alumni have key roles in the founding of the Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Friends of Chamber Music, Kansas City Chorale, NewEar Contemporary Ensemble and the Kansas City Ballet.
