The City of Lansing is a progressive community located 25 minutes from Kansas City International Airport. The city sponsors several festivals throughout the year including Lansing DAZE; Brews, Blues & BBQ; Fourth of July Fireworks; and Autumn in the Grove. The city's Lansing Historical Museum offers new exhibits and programs for patrons to enjoy. The Museum is located in an 1887 Santa Fe Railroad Depot and is one of the few original buildings constructed in the city. Lansing is also the home for the future Kansas Regional Prisons Museum which will feature the history of Leavenworth County's four prisons. Lansing is home to the oldest prison in Kansas. Lansing currently has four parks with sports fields, playground equipment and trails. Plans are underway for a new Lansing Community Park that will be home to sports fields, an aquatics park and more trails.
