Designed by Ralph Appelbaum, whose credits include the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C., the Museum tells the story of the war through the eyes of those who lived it.

A Must See if You're in Kansas City

Although I knew quite a bit about the Second World War, my knowledge of WW1 was pretty sketchy. After a visit to this museum, you definitely won't have any issues understanding what happened in WWI.
This was FAR BETTER than I expected. I would agree with one of the other reviewers that it was on par with the exhibits at the Smithsonian.
The tower is also worth the extra $2.00. The view is great. Staff was VERY friendly and helpful. The mural paintings in the Hall of Memory were also fantastic.
Highly, highly recommend. At $10 per person (half that if you use the 2-for-1 tickets on this site) it's one of the best values I've seen in Kansas City.

I have lived in the KC area going on 4 years and just today made it to the Liberty Memorial. As a seasonal employee of the IRS, I was well aware of its location, but it took an old friend coming into town who is a USAF & National Guard vet wanting to do touristy stuff that made me think of it. Having toured the memorials in D.C. and other war-related places in Europe, I found the Liberty Memorial to be a truly amazing museum. We are fortunate to have such a gem in our city. The collection is well designed and interesting, and the interactive parts are ingenious. We spent over 3 hours there and could have spent more time. For $10 you can tour all three of the museums AND go to the top of the tower -- an absolute bargain. The volunteers are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I will definitely be back.

The World War I Museum and Tower are awesome! You can see a lot of Kansas City from the top of the tower. Union Station was a lot of fun with lots of stuff to do. They had a great Christmas display. The Kansas City Chief's are a great team & organization. They had a special Veteran's Day Ceremony last Veteran's Day there.

My dad is a vietnam vet and I enjoyed taking him and my mom to see this wonderful museum when they came in town from Iowa for the weekend. They really liked it and we all learned a lot.
Tower alone is worth visiting

A beautiful memorial and lasting tribute. But even if you're not into the history, the Memorial Tower is worth paying $4 for. You take an elevator up to the top and get a great a bird's eye view of the city. It's breathtaking and a wonderful photo opportunity.
On Par with the Smithsonian

When we heard the new museum at Liberty Memorial was good, we weren't expecting this good. The museum's artifacts, documentary films and interactive exhibits are comparable to the major museums in D.C.
