The 300-acre Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens offers a natural setting with walking trails, themed gardens, and a permanent sculpture exhibit.

At the 12-acre Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead, visitors enjoy feeding farm animals, milking a cow, taking a horse-drawn hayride, fishing in the pond, experiencing an Indian Encampment, learning in a one-room school house, and more.

Oak Park Mall, the region’s largest mall, offers Nordstrom, Dillard’s, JC Penney, Macy’s and the Rainforest Café. Hawthorn Plaza includes a variety of specialty boutiques. Historic Downtown Overland Park offers antiques, art galleries, and retail shops.

There is a variety of ways to enjoy the Arts. The award-winning New Theatre Restaurant brings Broadway-style musicals and plays to Overland Park. The Convention Center features a rotating exhibition gallery and over 60 permanent pieces from local and regional artists, which is open for public viewing. I love KC for the many wonderful activities and events the area has for children and their families. As these pictures show, the Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens is our favorite spot to just go to relax and unwind and appreciate the beautiful changes that each season brings.

Their events such as the Kids Art in the Park or the Luminary Walk are definitely must sees! There are so many wonderful Kids' activities in the area...the Deanna Rose Farm, the KC Zoo, Wonderscope, Science City, Kaleidoscope...the list could go on and on. I also love being able to introduce my children to the culture and art around the city at the many events that are offered...the Plaza Art Fair, Ballet in the Park, hearing the KC symphony play at the Celebration at the Station and Pops at the Park. Thank you Kansas City for the many ways you reach out to enrich our children's lives!!

I took my 6 month old to the Deanna Rose Farmstead for the first time a couple weeks ago. This was my first time visiting the farm also and I had no idea how fun and educational it was! They have great activities for kids, lots of different animals to see and it's free! It was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

We love to visit the Deanna Rose Farmstead. Braden's 7th birthday party caught us ringing the cow bells outside the dairy barn and panning for gold with friends. It was a blast!

The KC area has so many wonderful activities and events for children to participate in. One of our favorite places to go is the Deanna Rose Childrens Farm in Overland Park. What a wonderful free activity for the city to provide.

My daughter could go everyday and feed the baby goats! We also enjoy the Kansas City Zoo with all the great animals and of course we can't leave without a ride on the big beautiful carousal.

We also look forward every year to the KC Pumpkin Patch in Gardner. What a spectacular organized event! My daughter was only 1 last year and still had a great time looking at pumpkins and petting the animals. As the leaves are beginning to turn I cannot think of a better place to live than this beautiful, bountiful area.
