Celebrating its Zootennial -- 100 years, the Kansas City Zoo offers visitors the unique experience of seeing more than 1,000 animals in naturalistic settings; all stretched across 202 acres in Swope Park.

See elephants trundle down a Botswanian corridor; stand toe-to-toe with a mob of free-roaming kangaroos; and hand feed a lorikeet from the tropical rainforest;

Voted best African exhibit and best place to see Chimpanzees and Kangaroos, the Kansas City Zoo is sure to entertain and educate every member of your family.

Explore the Discovery Barn and Peek-a-boo Tree. The tree house provides children with safe and fun opportunities to climb, laugh and play like animals in the wild.

A WONDERFUL Zoo!!

We arrived at 11am and left at closing and didn't get to see everything. We LOVED the talks done by zoo keepers. The sea lion show was a hit. Getting the $5 tram/train/carousel pass is a must (especially if you have kids). The zoo itself is beautiful and allows the animals to be in a setting similar to their native habitats. All of the staff was VERY polite and helpful. We're SO glad we went!

We visited the zoo over the fourth of July weekend and had an excellent time. We like the fact that it is very wide open making it a very animal friendly zoo. I went back a second day with my kids while my wife was here on work. KC has a zoo that they can be proud of.

Took the family to the zoo last weekend. We really enjoyed our time. Advise buying the $5 pass for unlimited rides on carousel, tram and train. My daughter loves the meerkats.

We met in Kansas City from St. Louis and Dallas to spend a long weekend together. With an energetic four year old grandson the Kansas City Zoo was the perfect choice. Even though it was a little on the chilly side we couldn't have had a better day. The Fall colors were beautiful and there are several indoor areas to spend time and warm up. Our grandson and the chimp sat contently observing each other separated only by glass.

With how tight money is this year, its been hard getting out with the family. I was so happy to find out that the KC Zoo was offering free admission this month and next for KC residents.
We loaded up the car and headed out for a chilly but nice day at the Zoo. My son who is now five just LOVED it, it was his first visit to a Zoo and I hope to get to take him again. Here we have a shot that I was lucky to get of one of the small monkeys sucking his thumb, and two of my son enjoying the Zoo, one coming down the slide at the discovery barn and the other watching the ducks in one of the aviaries

We love Kansas City in the Fall! It is the perfect time to visit the Zoo!! Many of the animals can be viewed up close, and many of them are friendly and interactive.

We also love Kansas City for the beautiful parks and recreation! As a family, we often take advantage of the wonderful biking trails. Not only is it great to get outdoors and exercise, but its wonderful spending time together as a family.

As a huge animal lover I have always enjoyed the Kansas City Zoo from the time I was a child taking field trips to now as an adult. The zoo provides a pretty up close view of the animals and has a very nice natural environment for the animals. It seems to be getting bigger and better every year. I recommend anyone coming to Kansas City to make time to check out the Kansas City Zoo and they will not be disappointed.

Spend some time at the K.C. Zoo, I did . although the natives were restless and pretended to not be paying attention, they new we were there. These Pictures were taken on my 40 th birthday July 14th 2008. I'm standing in front of the a house that too small and made with a straw roof (talking about what you get for the money) in K.C. You'd find much better accommodations if you are a hard worker so. while I could complain I won't. Well that's my take on K.C. it has more to offer then you might think you just have to get out and find it.
