Synopsis: When the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art opened in fall 2007, Kansas City leapt to the short list of American metropolitan areas of its size with two major contemporary art museums. Located on the campus of Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kan., the museum houses the college's renowned Oppenheimer Collection plus temporary exhibitions, classrooms and a 200-seat auditorium.
