No matter how you spell it, barbecue is a way of life in Kansas City. And for good reason, as the saucy metropolis is home to more barbecue restaurants per capita than anywhere else in the country. The signature food is served up at more than 100 barbecue establishments, each boasting its personal house specialty. If that wasn’t enough, KC is also home to several world-class festivals devoted to the heavenly ‘cue—including the largest barbecue competition in the world, the American Royal Barbecue.
