One of America's most comprehensive general art museums will celebrate its 75th anniversary throughout the next year with special events and exhibit openings. Originally opened on Dec. 11, 1933, The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art’s year of celebration will include the unveiling of the new American galleries in the spring of 2009 and the opening of the American Indian galleries in the fall of 2009, which will move the Nelson-Atkins to the forefront among preeminent museums in this field.
