Jesse was born, raised and killed in the Kansas City region. Several area historic sites chronicle Jesse’s life: the Jesse James Farm and Home offers visitors a view of where Jesse was born and where his brother, Frank, died; the Jesse James Bank Museum is the site of the first U.S. daylight, bank robbery during peacetime, made by James’ Gang; and the Jesse James Home Museum is the location where Jesse was shot and killed. The story of Jesse’s assassination is featured in the new movie, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, starring Brad Pitt.
