Kansas City, MO. – In commemoration of National Tourism Week, the Kansas City Convention & Visitors Association (KCCVA) announced the inaugural winners of its KC Visitors’ Choice Awards at the organization’s Annual Tourism Celebration. The event was held Tuesday in the Kansas City Convention Center’s Grand Ballroom.

The KCCVA developed the awards program to give visitors the chance to recognize their favorite businesses and attractions in 19 different categories, from Favorite Barbecue Restaurant to Best Midwestern Hospitality.

This is the only awards program in Kansas City designed with the visitor in mind. The finalists for each category were chosen by an online survey of visitors during a two-week nomination period in January. From Feb. 5 to May 1, visitors voted for their favorites at VisitKC.com. To ensure that the winners were true visitor choices, only votes from outside the five-county metropolitan area were counted.
