Kansas City, Mo. - The Kansas City Convention & Visitors Association (KCCVA) was honored with an award for excellence in Web site marketing at the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International's (HSMAI) Adrian Awards competition on Jan. 29, 2007, in New York, N.Y. The KCCVA was recognized alongside the Hawaii Visitors & Convention Bureau and the San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau for the award. This prestigious awards competition recognizes the top marketing efforts in the travel and tourism industry.
"The KCCVA is honored to be in the company of some of the world's greatest destinations for this award," said Rick Hughes, president of the Kansas City Convention & Visitors Association. "As the travel industry focuses more and more on the Web, we couldn't be more proud to be recognized as a leader in destination Web sites."
Only two destinations placed above the KCCVA in this category: the Canadian Tourism Commission, with the Gold award and the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board, with the Silver award.
This award tops many recent successes for the KCCVA's Web site, VisitKC.com. In 2006, the site was ranked the sixth best destination Web site in North America by Destination Consultancy Group LLC and Purdue University, and it was recognized as the "Best CVB Web Site" by Meetings MidAmerica in an article called "Planners' Best Bets." 2006 also brought record traffic to the site with more than 2,225,077 visitor sessions and nearly 10 million page views.
The KCCVA worked with Kansas City-based VML, Inc. and Software Management, Inc. of Pittsburgh, Pa., to produce VisitKC.com.
