Kansas City, Mo. – The Dr Pepper Big 12 Football Championship returns to Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium on Dec. 6. This marks the fifth time in the conference’s 13-season history that Kansas City has hosted the Championship, more than any other city in the league. In anticipation of the widespread interest in the game, the Kansas City Convention & Visitors Association has launched the Championship’s Official Fan Information Web Site at VisitKC.com/Big12Football.
The Web site offers comprehensive travel information to assist Big 12 fans planning a trip to Kansas City. The site features game day details such as tailgate information, fan fest schedules, driving directions to Arrowhead Stadium, plus local information and reviews of Kansas City hotels, restaurants and things to do.
The local economic impact of the event is estimated at $19.8 million. Previous Championships in Kansas City have averaged more than 74,300 in attendance, including three sold-out crowds in 2000, 2003 and 2006.
The 2008 Championship will feature the champions of the Big 12 North and South divisions. The winner of the contest will receive the conference’s automatic berth into the NCAA Bowl Championship Series. Kick off is set for 7 p.m. and will be televised nationally by ABC Sports. Limited tickets are still available.
