For Immediate Release: February 05, 2008Polls now open for second annual Visitors' Choice Awards Contact: Laren Mahoney, 816-691-3851 • Alan Carr, 816-691-3829
Kansas City, MO. — It’s an important election year in Kansas City, and at stake is the honor of being selected as the "city’s best" business or attraction. The outcome lies in the hands of out-of-town voters. Polls are now open for the second annual Visitors’ Choice Awards. The awards program was developed by the Kansas City Convention & Visitors Association to give travelers the chance to recognize their favorites in 20 different categories, from Favorite Barbecue Restaurant to Best Midwestern Hospitality. These are the only awards chosen by visitors to Kansas City. "The inaugural year for the Visitors’ Choice Awards was a tremendous success," said KCCVA President Rick Hughes. "These awards lend a voice to Kansas City’s 16.5 million annual travelers to guide future visitors to their favorite places in the city. In addition, they honor those businesses and attractions that have helped Kansas City earn its reputation for exemplary customer service." Polls are open through April 30 at VisitKC.com. Nominees for each category were chosen by an online survey of visitors in January. To ensure that winners are true visitor choices, only votes from outside the five-county metropolitan area will be counted. Winners will be announced on May 20 during the KCCVA’s Annual Tourism Celebration. One lucky voter will win a "Triple Play Kansas City Getaway," which includes a two-night stay at the Sheraton Kansas City Sports Complex, plus four tickets each to the CoCo Key Water Park, Worlds of Fun and a Kansas City Royals game.
